Unto us a Child is Born!

Merry Christmas everyone! Latter-Day Saints stand with the majority of the Christian world in celebrating the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ. This wasn't a birth of another prophet, sage, or holy man. Rather he was the very God in flesh. The baby born and placed in a simple manger was the very God who created both the Heavens and the Earth, and worlds without end.

Mary, was his mortal Mother, but Joseph was not his biological father. His real Father was the very Father and God of Heaven. We are all the spirit children of Heavenly Father. But Jesus was the only begotten of the Father in the flesh. Jesus was and is perfect. He was able to change the world with His teachings, crush the power of the devil, and save our souls, all in the short span of 33 years.

The most powerful person of all, condescended to be born in the most humble of circumstances. He lived a life among the poor, down trodden, and needy. Jesus Christ experienced every temptation, but did not yield to any temptation. He lived a perfectly sinless life and the was willing to share the fruits of his reward with us.

Jesus loves us. It's not just a childhood saying. It's not just a catchy marketing phrase for Christianity. He really loves us so much that He died for us. He has more good to give us than we are able to recieve.

I testify that God really did become mortal. He was born in a manger to an earthly Mother and a Heavenly Father. He lived a perfect life and then gave it freely for us.

The real joy of Christmas is His gift to us. The real gift is Jesus Christ.

In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
