Thomas S. Monson: Prophet, Seer, and Revelator

Today I would simply like to share with you my witness that Thomas S. Monson is a prophet of God. It's true that most of my life President Monson has been in the first presidency of the church.

I have heard him give hundreds of sermons and talks sharing his special apostolic witness that Jesus is the Christ. He has shared story after story that have invoked the Spirit of the Lord into my life.

Most of his Stories have to do with expirences he has had while serving others. He is quick to follow the promptings of the Holy Ghost.

I knew that Thomas S. Monson was a prophet of God before he was called to be the president of the church.

However, during the General Conference held just after President Monson was called, I could see a transformation in President Monson. The mantle had surely been passed on to him. To me, it looked like he had been through some experience that had illuminated him even more.

This wasn't an experience that made me know he was a prophet, I already knew that. But instead it was a conformation of what I already knew.

The very same keys that our Savior Jesus Christ gave to Peter are on the earth today. They are in the capable hands of the Prophet Thomas S. Monson.

I testify that God speaks through president Monson. I know that he is an instrument in the hands of the Lord to guide and move the work of the Lord forward.

May the Lord bless President Monson. May He bless you with your own witness that Thomas S. Monson is the Lords oracal on the earth today.

In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen

i used to believe that too, until i found out that the scroll of abraham had been found, egyptologists translated the scroll, and the pictures Joseph smith translated, it was just a funerary text nothing to do with abraham, and i thought..yeah if this was a real translationg all the people who can translate egyption, would be converted.. very sad.. i loved the church, i thought I KNEW, without a shadow of a doubt, i had shared my testimony many testimonys, not doubting, nothing wavering, but after finding this troubling info, i found lots more, anti mormon stuff isnt anti mormon, its actually history that the church changed including the book of mormon. then i realised that many things were wrong with the church i thought i knew. there are many propehsies even in the D and C that never came true. and contradicted nephi saying the lord gives no commandments unless he shall prepare a way for them to acomplish the that thing. like the temple far west. calling of the mission david patten who died D&C 114. then god commanded to sell the copyright of the BOM, but that didn´t happen. Joseph asked god, and recieved the answer some revelations are from the devil! wow i beilieved this. i believed everything. i beg you do some reaserch, if you don´t believe we find out, please reply

Night...

I"m sorry I'm just now getting to this. I have been very busy this lately.

Every issue you have brought up in your comment has been amply answered over and over again. I have done more research on all of these subjects that you might think.

It seems to me that you stopped short in your research by only listening to the naysayers. There is great information on each of the subjects you have mentioned put out both by the church and non-mormon scholars that answer your questions.

As the purpose of my blog is not to argue, but instead, to bare simple testimony, I will not get pulled into an argument over these things.

Instead of answering your questions myself, I will simply point you to where you can find the answers... since others have done a fabulous job of answering your questions.

I'm sad that you have decided to believe the half truths and misinformation of our critics. I hope you will come back. Because the Church really is everything it says it is. The Gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored. Come back and feast at the table of the Lord. There is joy here and we want you to partake of it again.

The Spirit is real. The Holy Ghost really did testify to you of the truthfulness of the gospel, don't allow yourself to be one who gets scorched by the sun because of being sowed on the stony ground:

Mark 4:16-17
16 And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, immediately areceive it with gladness;
17 And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when aaffliction or bpersecution ariseth for the word’s sake, immediately they are offended.

Regarding the issues you have brought up, here are some resources that may help you:

Issue #1 Book of Abraham:
http://en.fairmormon.org/Book_of_Abraham_papyri:FAQ just read this and it should answer your questions

Issue #2 "there are many propehsies even in the D and C that never came true"
There are prophecies that have not come true... YET, just like in the Bible where there are many that have not come true yet, but they will. Here is something to help you with any that my be disputed: http://en.fairmormon.org/Joseph_Smith/Prophecies

Issue #3 "contradicted nephi saying the lord gives no commandments unless he shall prepare a way for them to acomplish the that thing. like the temple far west." Just because the Lord gives a commandment and prepares a way for His people to accomplish it, doesn't mean He will interfere with free agency.

D&C 124:49
49 Verily, verily, I say unto you, that when I give a commandment to any of the sons of men to do a work unto my name, and those sons of men go with all their might and with all they have to perform that work, and cease not their adiligence, and their enemies come upon them and bhinder them from performing that work, behold, it behooveth me to crequire that work no more at the hands of those sons of men, but to accept of their offerings.

Make sure you read all scripture and wiegh it against other revelation. For instance, if you read the apostle Paul's writings you might think that all you must do to be saved to is have faith, but when you read the book of James, you find out that faith without works is dead. Both are true. True faith brings forth good works, and repentance. Just like the two scriptures above are both true. God does command and provide a way, but He will not interfere with our agency.

Issue #4 "calling of the mission david patten who died D&C 114" This should be helpful: http://en.fairmormon.org/Joseph_Smith/Prophecies/David_Patten_to_serve_mission

Issue #5 "then god commanded to sell the copyright of the BOM, but that didn´t happen." This "commandment" is actually based on the memory of someone 50 years later, you can read more here:
http://en.fairmormon.org/Did_Joseph_Smith_attempt_to_sell_the_Book_of_Mormon_copyright%3F

Issue #6 " Joseph asked god, and recieved the answer some revelations are from the devil! "
This is actually David Whitmer's recollection of something that he claimed Joseph said to him 50 years earlier.
It contradicts the documents upon which is it supposedly based.

I hope the foregoing will be helpful, but sadly, I know that the only way they will be helpful is if you are able to remove the shackles of doubt in your heart.

My knowledge of the truthfulness of the restored gospel comes from the Holy Ghost. It has come to both my heart AND my mind. When I say that I know that it's true, I'm not just saying I think it's true, or that I believe it's true, I'm really saying that I know it's true. The Holy Ghost has witnessed to me by feelings, and in many different real ways.

Come back, there is still time. I know the Lord loves you, even though I don't even know who you are. I know He has wonderful things in store for those who love and keep His commandments. I know He wants to bless you and make more out of us than we could ever make of our selves.

I promise if you will read the Book of Mormon again, with a sincere heart and real intent, the Holy Ghost will testify a fresh to you of the truthfulness of this work. If you won't, you will be left to your own devices and the cunning of those who would destroy you. Come back, the hands of the Lord are extended.

In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
